어/아요

INFORMAL (POLITE) SENTENCE ENDINGS

Informal sentence endings. These particles are among the particles that form polite language (높임알).

 Note:

 ✓ If the verb / adjective ends in:

 the final vowel is 오/아, we use 아요

 The last vowel other than 오/아, we use 어요

 for 하다 we replace 해요

 ✓ Omissions and abbreviations apply (탈락 및 축약)

 Example:

• 디안 씨는 소파에서 자요
• Dian sleeps on the sofa
• 어머니께서 시장에  가요
• Mother went to the market
• 약을 마셔요! 
• Drink the medicine!
• 우리 같이 햅연에 가요!
